Woodworking

My father was a carpenter so being around woodworking was natural for me.  He taught me what he knew and i cherish the knowledge he bestowed.

All my design processes go into my stages of woodworking.  First my pencil sketches of what it could look like and how I would build it along with the dimensions to accomplish my task.  Because wood comes in standard sizes it really causes me to be as efficient with my sizes and cuts as to not waist material. I find drawing up the piece in the computer to be helpful in visualizing it rather than determining the method of construction.  The CAD drawing also acts as a blueprint to make sure I'm following my design.  The most fun is cutting and shaping of the parts before assembling.  My preferred finishing of the wood is staining or a clear coat.  Like most designers I get a huge satisfaction in seeing an idea come to reality.  For some reason my biggest satisfaction in seeing the final product is through woodworking.
